Welcome to our website

Our goal is to provide safe and affordable pilot training toward your private pilot license, instrument rating, CFI certification, and CFII certification.
We also are happy to rent our planes out to qualified pilots.

We offer flight instruction that is individualized for each student. No rigid schedules or timelines. You work toward your private pilot license at your own pace.

What does it take to get your pilot’s license?
• The FAA requires a minimum of 20 hours of solo flight, and 20 hours of flight with an instructor, although most students fly 50-60 hours before they are ready to take their check ride.
• You will need to obtain an FAA class III medical certificate and a student pilot certificate before you can solo.
• You will need to complete a written exam before you can qualify for the check ride. There are some good online ground school courses you can take. We also provide a one-on-one ground school with a certified flight instructor if you choose.

How long does it take?
• The length of time to get your pilot's license depends on several factors. The individual student’s aptitude, study habits, frequency of training sessions, weather, and other factors all determine the length of time it takes. Typically, it takes 6-12 months.

How old do I have to be?
• You can start training at any age; however, you must be at least 16 years old to solo, and 17 to obtain your certificate.

How much does it cost?
• Several factors determine the cost of obtaining your private pilot certificate. There are certain pilot supplies you will need, like a logbook, kneeboard, flight bag, etc.
• The cost of aircraft rental, and the instructor.  Our Cessna 150s rent for $130/hr and our Cessna 172s rent for $175/hr. The instructor rate is $45/hr.
• The cost of the actual check ride is approximately $600.
• Online ground school costs approximately $250.

We also have a hangar in Guthrie with a Cessna 150 and a Cessna 172  available for instruction or rental.

About us

Why name our flight school Buck's?
Buck is the nickname given to my dad as a child. "Buck" is a USAF veteran who proudly served his country in many capacities, from Crew Chief on the KC-135, to Flight Engineer on the E-3 AWACS, to keeping F-111 fighter jets in the air. He shared his love for aviation with his 2 boys, starting with model planes and then progressing to full scale aircraft. So when I took over ownership of the flight school, I wanted to do something to honor my dad while I still have him. I wanted my dad to see his name on the sign.
